Iowa State University
The University Honors Program is pleased to announce that the third annual Iowa State University Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place from 8 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday April 20, 2010 in the Memorial Union on the ISU campus. The Symposium provides undergraduates from all academic disciplines with the opportunity to share their research with the university community, families, and other guests through conference-style oral presentation sessions. The Symposium represents part of a larger effort of Iowa State University and its Honors Program to enhance, support, and celebrate undergraduate research activity. Though coordinated by the University Honors Program, all undergraduate students are eligible and encouraged to participate in the Symposium. Undergraduates conducting research but not yet ready to present their work are encouraged to attend the Symposium to learn about the presentation process and students not currently involved in research are encouraged to attend the Symposium to learn about the broad range of undergraduate research activities that are taking place at ISU. The first Undergraduate Research Symposium was held in April 2007. The 39 students who presented research and their mentors (faculty, staff, and, in some cases, graduate students) collectively represented all of ISU's Colleges (Agriculture and Life Sciences, Business, Design, Engineering, Human Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, and the Graduate College) The same representation was found in the 2008 event, in which 51 undergraduates offered a total of 37 presentation sessions.. Participant information, including abstracts of the presentations, from the past events have been published in a set of Symposium programs, which are available online.
